“A Singularitarian is someone who understands the Singularity”: in this way Ray Kurzweil defines the term in his book The Singularity is near – when humans transcend biology.

The book is a very big one, but it can be resumed in a few words, giving interesting insight into the matter of AI.

First point is computer enters inside the evolutionary ladder, from cellular steams to mineral, vegetal, animal, human and, now, computers.

The second is that this overcome the genetic heritage, creating conditions to merge human and machine into a “new species” transcending biology.

Third is the inexorable progression of humans from biological to non-biological.

Fourth is the transferring process of human brain into the machine.

Kurzweil quotes the works carried on by Natasha Vita-More (the image above being a cybernetic portrait of M.me Vita-More, which appeared in a first phase of internet culture in the late ’90). Her Trans-humanism phylosophy moves now on forward the Singularity.

Writing this recension to the Kurzweil’s book and to the Vita-more’s essay (An Argument for Transhuman Bodies” in “Posthuman and Transhuman Bodies in Religion and Spirituality”), ^{Fondazione M} does not clothe any moral concept.

AI can’t be resolved in a computer generated content. AI is the dimension where human brain and the machine is going to merge. This won’t be the final step, but a very preliminar work to create the whole planet into an unitarian consciousness, and a single soul.
